Ms. Karnad is a graduate in law from the University of Mumbai and holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Delhi. She is a Pravin Fellow - Woodrow Wilson School of International Affairs, Princeton University, USA. She has been with HDFC since 1978.
Renu is in charge of the lending operations of the company and is responsible for spearheading HDFC's expansion. Under Renu's leadership, HDFC has grown consistently in its lending business with cumulative home loan disbursements of over Rs. 2.25 trillion.
Owing to her successful spell with the mortgage sector, Renu has served as the President of the International Union for Housing Finance (IUHF) an association of housing finance firms present across the globe. She has also served as Director, Asian Real Estate Society.
Besides being on the Board of several HDFC Group Companies, including HDFC Bank, she is the Chairperson of HDFC Property Venture, India's first property venture capital company and a wholly owned subsidiary of HDFC Ltd. Renu is also on the board of a number of Indian and multinational companies, like Bosch Limited, Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited, Feedback Ventures Limited, G4S Corporate Services Private Limited, ICI India Limited, Indraprastha Medical Corporation Limited and Sparsh BPO Services Limited. She is a member of the Senior Expert Council of IDFC Private Equity.
Over the years, Renu has had to her credit, numerous awards and accolades. Some of her recent recognitions include being ranked at no. 5 in the Economic Times-Corporate Dossier List of India Inc's 'Most Powerful Women Leaders' (April 2010), and being featured in the business category among the List of '100 Powerful Women' by Times of India - Crest (March 2010). She has also featured in Business Today magazine's list of 'Most Powerful Women in Indian Business' for five years - 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009, in the list of '25 top non-banking women in finance' by U.S. Banker magazine in 2008 and was chosen as the 'Best Woman Corporate Leader' by Business & Economy magazine for the year 2007-08. She was felicitated at the 'Women Achievers Award - 2007' by the FICCI Ladies Organization. In 2006, Wall Street Journal Asia adjudged her among the 'Top Ten Powerful Women to Watch Out for in Asia'.
As Chief Executive, Mark's responsibilities include oversight of overall Group strategy, Human Resource Development and Product and Content Innovation. He also plays an active role in the development and management of a select number of client relationships. Mark leads Monitor's Middle East Initiative and its National Economic Development and Security practice.
He formerly served as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, where he taught courses in strategy formulation and implementation, as well as industry and competitive analysis. While a professor, he was Co-Director of Harvard's Project on the Auto Industry and the American Economy. He has authored or co-authored more than sixty articles and teaching cases. His most recent book, Japan's Business Renaissance, was published in 2005.
Mark is Governor of the Asian Institute of Management, Trustee of Belmont Hill School, Director of New Profit Incorporated and of the Center for Effective Philanthropy, Member of Harvard University's Major Gifts Steering Committee, the Board of Overseers' Committee on University Resource and Member of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Task Force on Academic Resources at Harvard University.
Kishore is a Founding Partner and Investment Committee member of the Bellwether Microfinance Fund South East Asia and a Member on the Board of Directors of International Asset Reconstruction Company Pvt. Ltd. Kishore is Managing Partner of Credit Asia Capital, an investment management firm he founded in 2007 to invest in special situations, private financing, credit and distressed situations across Asia.
Kishore received a M.B.A. in Real Estate Finance and a B.B.A. in Finance/Strategy (Honors) from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto. Prior experience includes being part of the founding team of CBRE in India and establishing it as the as the largest international property consulting firm in the country. In 1998, Kishore joined Colony Capital, a private equity real estate firm that has invested over billion since 1991. At Colony, Kishore was based in Singapore with responsibility for investments in South East Asia and later based in Los Angeles, New York and Taipei, working directly with Thomas J. Barrack, the firm’s Chairman and Founder.
Nikhil has worked with leading Indian companies on growth and innovation related issues and has advised a number of multinationals on issues relating to their India strategy – entry decision, corporate structure and acquisitions, human asset choices, etc. His work has spanned a number of industries e.g. financial services, consumer products, chemicals, life sciences, retail, energy, etc.
He was invited by the High-Level Committee on SME Financing (constituted by the Governor, RBI) to provide expert inputs. Additionally, Nikhil has been a keynote speaker at the annual Insurance Summit of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), has addressed key industry leaders of Sri Lanka on ‘Aspects of Competitiveness’ and has authored articles in the Indian business press on the global financial crisis, innovation, insurance industry and others.
In addition to his responsibilities at Monitor, Nikhil also serves as a Senior Advisor on marketing, organization development issues at a successful floriculture venture based in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, having been closely associated with this entrepreneurial venture since its inception.
Prior to joining Monitor, Nikhil worked with Seagram India where he joined with the first group of managers in the Indian affiliate, helping operationalize Seagram’s market entry.
Nikhil has an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad and a B.A. (Honors) in Economics from University of Delhi. He is based in New Delhi, India
Mr. Narayanan received a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from XLRI Jamshedpur where he was a Gold Medalist and stood 1st in the graduating class in the area of Finance and Accounting, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.
Shankar is the Managing Director responsible for leading growth capital investments in India. He is based in Mumbai.
Since joining Carlyle in 2004, Shankar has led investments in Claris Lifesciences, Allsec Technologies, Great Offshore, Elitecore Technologies, Repco Home Finance, Tirumala Milk Products and Visen Industries.
He was also actively involved in managing and exit of Carlyle investments in Newgen Knowledge Works, Financial Software & Systems, Learning Mate Solutions, QuEST and Sharekhan.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Shankar spent 6 years at Hathway Investments in Mumbai and during that time served as Managing Director and CEO. He was also with Deutsche Bank Capital Partners, based in Hong Kong, as a Director covering South Asia and India. Shankar has led or been associated with a number of prominent private equity investments in India, including Johnson Tiles, Exide Industries, Hathway Cable, Asianet Satellite Communications, Pushpa Polymers, Tata Infomedia, and AFL Limited. He had served on the Board of Directors of all these Companies. Prior to Hathway Investments, Shankar worked at Citibank in Mumbai.
